Sock It To Me

Last week a discussion occurred via Twitter about the

Inspiration for the conversation: Chunky Over the Knee Socks

over the knee stocking. It was an interesting conversation, one worthy of further investigation. This lovely lady is the example brought up in the conversation.

First, I have to be very clear. The over the knee sock look is not meant for work. Please don’t cite me as the reason you show up at your office in these tomorrow.

Second, I’m not completely sold on the look. The only photos I’ve found of women looking good in over the knee socks were of rail thin ladies.

So after some trial and error on my part I’ve put together tips on how to rock the over the knee sock look.

Pair with a mid-thigh skirt or dress. As you can see I attempted the short route. It will work, but it’s harder to pull off. Obviously, it doesn’t work for me.

Choose a dress or skirt with drape. If you wonder what that means-basically the less structure to the skirt the better you’ll be. It should just hang from your waist.

Lengthen your stems with heels or booties.

Yes, you can get away with some flats but if you want to make this look work don’t skimp on the heels. You want to look long and heels with help do that.

Get comfortable. In my post last week I asked you to be true to yourself. If you want to look good in the over the knee socks you need to feel good. If you feel uncomfortable, we can tell. Shine confidence and you’ll go far.

I’m glad I took a risk and purchased these over the knee stockings. It took me out of my comfort zone.

If you haven’t been able to guess I prefer my skirts at knee-length or longer. I’m open to trying new things, are you?
